KU'S MARTIN TO LECTURE ON BIRDS AND DINOS
LAWRENCE -- The controversial relationship between dinosaurs and the origin of birds will be the subject of a public lecture by Larry Martin, vertebrate paleontologist at the Museum of Natural History at the University of Kansas.
Martin's presentation, "The Case Against Flying Dinosaurs," is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, in Hambleton Auditorium at the Kansas Geological Survey. The Survey is located on the southwest corner of 19th and Iowa streets on KU's west campus.
The lecture is sponsored by the KU chapter of the scientific research society Sigma Xi.
Martin is an internationally recognized expert on flying reptiles and dinosaurs. He has been a vocal opponent of the theory, developed by other vertebrate paleontologists in the past decade, that birds evolved from dinosaurs.
Martin's presentation is free and open to the public.
