KU HONOR RECITAL FEATURES OUTSTANDING MUSICIANS
LAWRENCE -- The annual fall Undergraduate Honor Recital at the University of Kansas is at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, in Swarthout Recital Hall. Eight students have been selected by a faculty committee to perform for the recital.
The 1998 Honor Recital line-up includes:
Maxim Shagdaron, Moscow, Russia, freshman, pianist, performing
"Notturno XI" by Liszt.
Jeff Timmons, 6906 Stearns, Shawnee, junior, alto saxophonist,
performing the first movement of "Concerto" by Pierre Max Dubois.
Jennifer Keith, 1916 Nebraska, Kansas City, Kan., senior, soprano,
singing arias from "Un Ballo in Maschera" by Verdi and "Susannah" by Floyd.
Sara Holmberg, 2136 Owens Lane, Lawrence, sophomore, violinist,
playing the first movement from "Concerto No. 2 in D minor, op. 22," by Wieniawski.
Sarah Hogan, 1301 Burnham Road, Little Rock, Ark., hornist,
performing "Sonata for Horn and Piano, op. 178," by Rheinberger.
Ashley Dew, 1035 Grand Concourse, Charleston, S.C., sophomore,
flutist, playing "Cantabile and Presto for Flute and Piano" by Enesco.
Chad Dempsey, P.O. Box 437, Maryville, Mo., senior, trombonist,
playing "The Devil's Dermish" by Bernofsky.
Vanessa Thompson-Smith, 403 Arthur, Clay Center, senior,
soprano, singing an aria from "Susanna" by Floyd.
The Honor Recital is free and open to the public.
