KU NAMES FINE ARTS DEAN SEARCH COMMITTEE

LAWRENCE -- University of Kansas Provost David E. Shulenburger has appointed a 13-member search committee to find a new dean of KU's School of Fine Arts.

The current dean, Peter G. Thompson, is stepping down June 30, 1999, to resume teaching full-time after serving 13 years at the helm.

John C. Gaunt, dean of Architecture and Urban Design, will chair the committee. Other members are: Justin Autumn Bowles, Wichita senior; Carol Ann Carter, professor of art; Alice A. Darrow, associate professor of music and dance; Danielle Deyon Dempsey-Swopes, associate director, Equal Opportunity Office; Patrick John Dooley, assistant professor of design; Mary A. Jordan, associate professor of design; Michael W. Kimber, professor of music and dance; Paul Robert Laird, associate professor of music and dance; Frederick W. Pawlicki, operations director, Lied Center; Darcy Lee Prilliman, Bartlesville, Okla., graduate student; Roger Y. Shimomura, distinguished professor of art; and Joan P. Stone, instructor of music and dance.

The School of Fine Arts includes academic programs that encompass the visual and performing arts, including art, design, music and dance.
