KU'S WATSON LIBRARY TO CLOSE NEXT WEEKEND

LAWRENCE - To ensure the safety of patrons and employees while an electrical transformer is replaced, Watson Library at the University of Kansas is to close for up to 48 hours next weekend.

Current plans call for the library to be closed from noon Friday, Nov. 13, to noon Sunday, Nov. 15. The library will re-open earlier if the work is completed ahead of schedule.

For up-to-date information about the library's status, call 864-5900 or 864-3506.

William J. Crowe, dean of libraries, said he regrets the inconvenience the closing will cause library users. He said he appreciates the efforts by KU's departments of design construction and management and facilities operations to minimize the disruption.

Book drops at Watson will remain accessible during the closure. All other KU libraries will be open on their usual operating schedule.

KU faculty and teaching assistants who have materials placed on reserve in Watson for students to read may arrange to have the materials moved to Anschutz Library. To do so, contact Joe Orosco at 864-8982, Sarah Couch at 864-8979 or Julia Rholes at 864-8995 before 5 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 11.
