GUEST ORGANIST TO PERFORM FOR KU RECITAL SERIES

LAWRENCE -- Jonathan Biggers, Link Professor of Organ at the State University of New York-Binghamton, will perform a Visiting Artists Series recital at the University of Kansas at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, in Bales Recital Hall.

A graduate of the University of Alabama, Biggers completed his doctoral degree from the Eastman School of Music and studied on a Fulbright Grant at the Conservatory of Music in Geneva, Switzerland.

Biggers has performed as a soloist throughout the United States, Canada and Europe, and has been a concerto soloist with major orchestras throughout North America. He has been featured on "Pipedreams," a National Public Radio series. He has also recorded two CDs on the Calcante label, "Sleeper's Wake! A Reger Perspective" and "Back on the Fritts!"

For his KU recital, Biggers will play organ works by Charles Tournemire, Jean-Adam Guilain, Charles-Marie Widor, and Louis Vierne.

The KU organ recital is free and open to the public.
