Michael Scott, Southwestern Bell area manager of external affairs, said, "We believe it's very important to support quality radio stations like KANU and their efforts to cover the Kansas Legislature. This is the fourth year our company has sponsored legislative reports during Morning Edition. It's a great association for our company." KANU's statehouse bureau chief Russell Lewis is the only radio reporter who covers the legislature full time.
The legislature began its annual session on Jan. 11 and will conclude in early May. KANU legislative news reports air hourly between 6 and 9 a.m. on Morning Edition. Time and length will vary daily.
Statehouse news reports on KANU can be heard around the state on Kansas Public Radio network affiliates KMUW-89.1 FM in Wichita, KKSU-580 AM in Manhattan, KANZ-91.1 FM in Garden City and KZNA-90.5 FM in Hill City.
