Aircraft Design is unusual among aviation publications because it is a refereed journal that prints technical papers by professionals in both industry and academia. Topics addressed include functionality, ergonomics and environmental acceptability in aircraft design while integrating basic engineering disciplines, such as mechanical, aerodynamic, electrical and materials science. The journal is read by aircraft designers, ergonomists, and aeronautical and aerospace scientists.
As co-editor of Aircraft Design, Roskam handles submissions from authors in the Americas. At KU, Roskam teaches courses in aircraft systems design and flight dynamics. He is president of DARcorporation, an aviation company in Lawrence. Professor E. Torenbeek, of the Technial University of Delft in the Netherlands, is Roskam's co-editor on Aircraft Design and works with authors in the rest of the world.
Aircraft Design is published quarterly by Elsevier Science. A yearly subscription is $544.
