Students from 3 states attend pharmacy camp

STUDENTS FROM 3 STATES ATTEND PHARMACY CAMP

LAWRENCE -- High-school students from Kansas, Missouri and South Dakota recently attended the School of Pharmacy Summer Camp at the University of Kansas.

The camp provided information on career opportunities available in pharmacy, said Jack E. Fincham, KU pharmacy dean.

This was the camp's third year, and it attracted 24 students, up from 17 in 1998.

The camp included a number of hands-on learning experiences in pharmacy, and field trips to several hospitals, and retail and specialty pharmacies. Pharmacists from the Lawrence area also related their career experiences.

Students who attended, their parents' names, and their class and school in 1998-1999 are:

From Lawrence: Andrew Novick, son of David and Liz Novick; sophomore at Phillips Exeter Academy, Exeter, N.H.; K.J. Swadley, son of Ken and Jo Swadley; freshman at Lawrence High School.

From Hays: Amanda Krankenberg, daughter of Danny and Pam Krankenberg; freshman at Hays High School.

From Dodge City: Casey Hager, daughter of Mark and Kay Hager; junior at Minneola High School, Minneola.

From Mayetta: Rebecca White, daughter of Stan and Wanda White; junior at Royal Valley High School, Hoyt.

From Mound City: Dustin Bryant, son of Lee Roy and Brenda Bryant; junior at Jayhawk-Linn High School, Mound City.

From Leavenworth: Heather Green, daughter of Marion and Stella Green; sophomore at Lansing High School, Lansing.

From Hillsboro: Angela Kroeker, daughter of Dave and Kim Kroeker; junior at Hillsboro High School.

From Marysville: Laura Blair, daughter of Sherry and Randy Brown, Marysville, and Richard and Becky Blair, Mankato; senior at Marysville High School.

From Lindsborg: Derek Pihl, son of Ronald and May Pihl; senior at Smoky Valley High School, Lindsborg.

From Beloit: Heather LeSage, daughter of Joe and Angela LeSage; junior at Beloit High School.; Emily Peters, daughter of Robert and Susanne Peters; junior at Beloit High School.

From Independence: Erica Hoover, daughter of Larry and Pattie Hoover; senior at Labette County High School, Altamont.

From Chanute: Adam Crawford, son of Stacy Dickerhoof, Chanute, and Dean Crawford, Iola; freshman at Chanute High School.

From Brownell: Ashleigh Bain, daughter of Mark and Lora Bain, Brownell; junior at Bazine High School, Bazine.

From Osage City: Elizabeth Richard, daughter of James and Karen Richard; senior at Osage City High School.

From Wichita: Quintin Faust, son of Harry and Annette Faust; sophomore at Wichita Northwest High School.

From Topeka: Ryan Murphy, son of Thomas and Cleo Murphy; junior at Hayden High School, Topeka.
