The gift to the Kansas University Endowment Association comes from Charles V. and Patricia A. Marshall of St. Louis, Mo. Half of the gift will provide support for business programs at KU and half will give unrestricted support for the rest of the university through the Chancellors Club, KU Endowment's major-donor organization.
"We applaud the Marshalls' generosity to the School of Business in providing this gift, which will support the implementation of our Plan for Excellence as we celebrate the school's 75- year tradition of excellence in the 1999-2000 academic year," Sarowski said.
Charles V. Marshall was born in 1948 in Topeka and received a bachelor's degree in business administration from KU in 1971. He received his law degree from Washington University in 1986. He is an attorney in private practice in St. Louis. Patricia A. Marshall, a native of St. Louis, received her law degree from Washington University in 1986. She serves as assistant general counsel for the Federal Reserve Bank in St. Louis. The Marshalls are members of the KU Alumni Association and the Chancellors Club.
The gift will be administered by the KU Endowment Association, an independent, nonprofit organization serving as the official fund-management foundation for the University of Kansas. Founded in 1891, the KU Endowment Association is the oldest foundation of its type at a public university in the United States and one of the largest.
