ECUADOR STUDY TOUR TO PRODUCE TOOLS FOR KANSAS TEACHERS

The June 4 to July 3 study tour of Ecuador was sponsored by a Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad grant from the U.S. Department of Education to the University of Kansas Center of Latin American Studies. KU's School of Education provided additional support.

Kansas teachers competed to participate in the four-week program, which focused on cultural and geographic diversity. The 12 teachers returned to the KU campus to create lessons that will be available to all Spanish and social studies teachers in Kansas. Susan Twombly, professor of education, Manuela González-Bueno, assistant professor of education and Martina Masaquiza, visiting professor of Quichua at KU from Salasaca, Ecuador, led the study tour.
