TROY TEACHER HONORED FOR 50 YEARS OF SERVICE

LAWRENCE -- A Troy teacher who has taught for 50 years in Kansas was among more than 1,000 Kansas teachers honored this year by the University of Kansas School of Education for long-term service.

Anna Ross, who teaches in the Troy public schools, has worked in public education for 50 years. Troy is about 20 miles north of Atchison.

KU's School of Education annually awards certificates to teachers with careers of 25 years or more. This year's teachers represent 175 of Kansas' 304 school districts and two interlocal cooperative districts.

Tom Colwell, who teaches in the Blue Valley school district, was honored for 41 years of teaching and Barbara Morissett, who teaches in the Salina public schools, for 40 years of teaching.

Teachers honored, their school districts, county and total years of teaching, are available by the following counties:
