KU MARCHING JAYHAWKS TO PERFORM IN HOLLAND

LAWRENCE -- Members of the Marching Jayhawks Band at the University of Kansas will spend May 24 to 31 in Holland performing for National Football League-Europe games.

The trip is sponsored by International Sport, a Tallahassee, Fla., organization that coordinates appearances of American college bands in Europe.

KU Director of Bands Robert E. Foster and 34 musicians from the marching band will leave for Holland after performing at KU's commencement May 23. In Holland they will stay in the Dutch capital city, Den Hague.

In Amsterdam, the group will tour The Hague and Scheveningen, visit the Rijksmuseum, Anne Frank House and take a canal cruise.

Performances on May 27 and 28 are being scheduled by NFL-Europe. On Saturday, May 29, the band will perform at a game between the Amsterdam Admirals and the Barcelona Dragons. Kickoff will be 7 p.m. Holland time. The game will be broadcast in the United States on the Fox Network.
