LAWRENCE -- The University of Southern Illinois at Edwardsville Faculty Trio will perform as part of the Visiting Artists Series at the University of Kansas at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1, in Swarthout Recital Hall. Members of the trio are Lenora-Marya Anop, violin; Kangho Lee, cello; and Linda Perry, piano.
For their KU recital, the trio will perform "Trio in C Minor, op. 1, no. 3," by Ludwig van Beethoven; "Trio No. 2 in B Minor, op. 76," by Joaquin Turina; and "Trio, op. 90, ('Dumky')" by Antonin Dvorak.
The KU Visiting Artists Series recital is free and open to the public.
Violinist Anop has performed more than 300 concerts throughout the United States, Europe and Australia as first violinist of the Rackham String Quartet. The winner of numerous national competitions, the quartet recorded compact discs for the Albany label. Anop received her doctorate in musical arts from the University of Michigan after receiving her master's in music from Yale and bachelor's in music from the New England Conservatory of Music. She is assistant professor of violin at Edwardsville.
Since his orchestral debut with the Seoul Philharmonic at the age of 12, cellist Lee has performed with leading orchestras in Korea, the United States and Europe, including the KBS Symphony, Seoul Academy Symphony, Suwon Philharmonic Orchestra, Yale Philharmonia and Sofia National Academy Orchestra. He received his bachelor's degree in economics from Swarthmore College, holds a master's in music from Yale University, and is pursuing his doctorate in musical arts at the New England Conservatory of Music. Lee is assistant professor of cello and music theory at Edwardsville.
Linda Perry is professor of music and director of the keyboard faculty at Edwardsville. Best known as a collaborative artist, she performs extensively as a recitalist and chamber musician both locally and nationally. Perry holds bachelor's and master's degrees in piano performance from Northwestern University and a doctorate of musical arts in accompanying from the University of Illinois. Her recordings of piano accompaniments for many of the standard violin concerti are widely used by teachers and students nationally. She recently recorded a compact disc of music for clarinet, violin and piano with the Meridian Trio, and her edition of George Frederick Pinto's "Sonatas for Piano and Violin" was published this year
