KANU HIRES NEW DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

LAWRENCE -- The University of Kansas public radio station, KANU-FM 91.5, has appointed Cheri D. Hawke as its new development director.

Hawke will be in charge of the overall management of KANU's underwriting and membership department and will work with the station's advisory board to create new funding sources. She will also work bring in more underwriting dollars from businesses. KANU's fall fund drive kicks off Oct. 15.

Hawke has recently worked for KLWN/KLZR in Lawrence and spent two years as support manager for Computer Concepts, a Lenexa broadcast software company. Before moving to Lawrence three years ago, she co-owned and managed eight commercial radio stations in northern California and southern Oregon for more than 18 years.

KANU is licensed to KU and can be heard at 91.5 FM in Lawrence, at 90.5 FM in Emporia, and at 87.7 FM in Atchison.
