Media Advisory: Columbine, Marines consultant to meet press

Jackson Katz, who has consulted for organizations ranging from the U.S Marine Corps to Columbine High School on violence prevention, will have a press conference at the University of Kansas prior to his speaking engagement Monday.

The press conference begins at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28, in the Seymour Gallery, on the second floor of the Lied Center.

Katz is currently counseling Columbine High School football coaches and teachers on methods for preventing violence. He also just released a new educational video, "Tough Guise: Violence, Media and the Crisis in Masculinity."

Following the press conference, Katz will meet with KU faculty and administrators to discuss mechanisms for educating men on the campus about issues related to masculinity and sexual violence.

He will deliver his presentation, "More than a Few Good Men: A Lecture on American Manhood and Violence Against Women," at 7:30 p.m. in the Lied Center.
