LAWRENCE--The University of Kansas Audio-Reader Network and the Lawrence Public Library are collaborating on KU Audio-Reader's 13th annual On-Air Fund Drive, Thursday to Saturday, June 15 to 17.
This year, the drive will feature a remote broadcast from 7:30 a.m. to noon Friday, June 16, in the lobby of the Lawrence Public Library. The public is invited to drop by after the library opens at 9 a.m.
Although the fund drive targets Audio-Reader listeners, donations are accepted from anyone and can be made at the library on Friday morning.
A reading service for the blind and print-disabled, Audio-Reader provides closed-circuit radio broadcasts of current books, magazines, newspapers and other printed materials to individuals who are unable to read standard-size print.
The Lawrence Public Library has supported Audio-Reader for many years, providing an extended loan on library books being recorded for Audio-Reader. In support of this year's fund drive, the library is also donating four new copies of New York Times best sellers for volunteers to record on Audio-Reader.
