Media Advisory: Homecoming events

LAWRENCE--The University of Kansas will welcome back alumni and guests to campus Friday through Sunday for Homecoming weekend. The theme for the 2000 Homecoming festivities is "Passport to the World."

Following are homecoming events Oct. 20, 21 and 22 at the University of Kansas.

Friday, Oct. 20:

  • 2:30 p.m. Homecoming parade on Jayhawk Boulevard, followed by post-parade party at Kansas Union plaza. Grand marshal will be Robert Foster, who is stepping down after 20 years as director of the marching band. Speeches by football coach Terry Allen and David Ambler, vice chancellor for student affairs, will kick off the parade.
  • Immediately following parade at Kansas Union: A new event, "Post Parade Party" will feature music and food.
  • 5 p.m. Parade winners announced by KJHK-FM 90.7, broadcasting live from the Post Parade Party.
  • 6:30 p.m. Class of 1960 reunion, Adams Alumni Center.
  • 7:30 p.m. University Theatre will present "Angels in America, Part I" at Murphy Hall.
  • 8 p.m. Tim Reynolds, guitarist for the Dave Matthews Band, in concert at Lied Center.

    Saturday, Oct. 21:

  • 8:30 a.m. Pre-game buffet, Adams Alumni Center. Cost is $14 for adults.
  • 9 a.m. School of Education open house, Joseph R. Pearson Hall. (See story below.)
  • 11:30 a.m. Football, KU vs. University of Colorado, (televised) Memorial Stadium.
  • 7:30 p.m. University Theatre will present "Angels in America, Part I" at Murphy Hall.

    Sunday, Oct. 22:

  • 2:30 p.m. University Theatre will present "Angels in America, Part I" at Murphy Hall.
