College-bound students may visit KU via new online fair

LAWRENCE -- Students interested in attending the University of Kansas will have an opportunity to make a visit via their computers during the debut of Online College Fairs, a new service offered through the National Associate for College Admission Counseling, Alexandria, Va.

With the new online service, offered in conjunction with Interaction Software Inc., prospective students may log onto www.OnlineCollegeFair.com to chat live with representatives from KU and other colleges and universities across the country.

KU has selected five online college fair dates, three of which are focused on general interest in KU:

  • General interest, Thursday, Oct. 19
  • Science, engineering and technology, Tuesday, Nov. 14
  • General interest, Wednesday, Nov. 29
  • Business, Wednesday, Jan. 17
  • General interest, Thursday, Feb. 1

During the Online College Fairs, students and parents can interact with college or university representatives from computers in their homes or schools. Each participating college and university staffs its own multimedia chat room.

"We will have KU faculty and staff from the following offices on campus assisting with the Online College Fairs: admissions and scholarships, financial aid, housing, pre-med, allied health, and fine arts," said Lisa Pinamonti, associate director of KU's Office of Admissions and Scholarships.

More information about Online College Fairs is available at www.nacac.com/fairs_exhibitors.html.
