Engineering freshman named Coca-Cola scholar

LAWRENCE--Cydni Nicole Williams, engineering freshman from Bixby, Okla., is one of 200 students selected nationally by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation for a regional scholarship to attend the University of Kansas.

Williams is the daughter of Barry and Becky Williams, 8449 81st St., Tulsa, Okla.

Coca-Cola Scholarships are awarded based on character, personal merit and commitment. Merit is demonstrated through leadership in school, civic and extracurricular activities, academic achievement, and motivation to serve and succeed.

The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation has awarded nearly $16 million to more than 1,500 deserving scholars between 1989 and 1999. Each year, the foundation awards $20,000 to 50 national scholars and $4,000 to 200 regional scholars from across the country.

The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation works to reinforce the Coca-Cola's legacy of community support while enhancing educational opportunities in the United States through scholarship awards and enrichment programs for young people who demonstrate, through academic excellence and leadership in their communities, their capacity for and commitment to making a difference in the world.

More information about the foundation is available online at www.thecoca-colacompany.com.
