TRIO programs stage 'Aspects: Faces of America Too'

LAWRENCE--The University of Kansas' TRIO programs are sponsoring, "Aspects: Faces of America Too," a one-person show that addresses present issues through multicultural aspects of American society, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, in the Lied Center on the KU campus. This event is free and open to the public.

Performed by Conrad Cimarra from the Will and Company Theater, "Aspects: Faces of America Too" portrays the stories of nine characters from different walks of life. The show challenges stereotypes and the way we perceive ourselves and others.

Directed by Colin Cox, the show premiered as part of the "One On One Festival" at the Los Angeles Theatre Center in December 1998.

TRIO Programs were established by Congress to provide education opportunities for all Americans, regardless of race, ethnic background or socio-economic status. The purpose of TRIO is to enable students to achieve their academic and career ambitions by promoting equal educational opportunity in post secondary education.

KU's TRIO programs include Upward Bound, Upward Bound Math and Science Center, Student Support Services, Educational Talent Search, Educational Opportunity Center, Veteran's Upward Bound and the Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program.
