Kansas Honors Program at Altamont Sept. 18

LAWRENCE - Students from eight Kansas high schools will be honored Monday, Sept. 18, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.

The students, seniors from Cherokee and Labette counties, will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a dinner program at 6:30 p.m. at the Labette County High School, 601 S. High School, Altamont.

Diana Carlin, dean of the graduate school and international programs, will speak. Alumni Association representative Kirk Cerny, senior vice president for membership services, is in charge of award presentations.

The program will cost parents and alumni $6.50 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.

Mary Catherine and Chuck Brown, Parsons, are site coordinators. Dana Saliba, Parsons, is coordinator for Cherokee and Labette counties.

The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 76,000 students in the top 10 percent of the Kansas high school senior classes.
