LAWRENCE--Students from 14 Kansas high schools will be honored Wednesday, Sept. 13, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.
The students, seniors from Marion, McPherson and Rice counties, will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a dinner program at 6:30 p.m. at the Holiday Manor Convention Center, 2211 E. Kansas, McPherson.
Honorees' names are listed below.
James Woelfel, director of the Humanities and Western Civilization Program, will speak. Alumni Association representative Fred B. Williams, president of the Kansas Alumni Association, is in charge of award presentations.
The program will cost parents and alumni $10 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.
Mary Kornhaus, McPherson, is site coordinator. Jim Christensen and Martin Tice, both of Marion, are coordinators for Marion County. Ken and Barbara Cole, McPherson, are McPherson County coordinators, and Roger Tobias, Lyons, is the coordinator for Rice County.
The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 76,000 students in the top 10 percent of the Kansas high school senior classes.
