LAWRENCE--Students from 15 Kansas high schools will be honored Tuesday, Sept. 12, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.
The students, seniors from Butler, Elk and Greenwood counties, will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a dinner program at 7 p.m. at the Butler County Community College student union cafeteria, 901 S. Haverhill, El Dorado. Dennis Prater, professor of law, will speak. Alumni Association representative Carolyn Barnes, director of the Kansas Honors Program, is in charge of award presentations.
The program will cost parents and alumni $9.25 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association. Mike Coash, El Dorado, is site and Butler County coordinator. Joan Gryder and Jerry Handley, both of Eureka, are coordinators for Elk and Greenwood counties.

The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 76,000 students in the top 10 percent of the Kansas high school senior classes.
