KU Medical Center to host bioterrorism-response teleconference Saturday

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Health care providers in the state of Kansas will be able to gain some insight into how to prepare for possible bioterrorism threats at a statewide teleconference this Saturday morning. The clinic, at the University of Kansas Medical Center, will be televised to sites throughout the state.

The program's presentations include "Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response at the State and Local Levels"; "Biologic and Chemical Warfare and Terrorism: The Clinical Perspective"; and "Hospital Response to Incidents Involving Biological and Chemical Agents."

The program is free, but advance registration is required.

Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m., and the clinic is scheduled to conclude at noon. The seminars are open to all physicians, nurses and pharmacists.

The program will qualify for continuing education credits for medical professionals.

Sites for the program are: Coffeyville Regional Medical Center; Southcentral Kansas Regional Medical Center, Arkansas City; Geary County Hospital, Junction City; Northeast Kansas Center for Health and Wellness, Horton; Landon State Office Building, Topeka; Saint Catherine Hospital, Garden City; Southwest Medical Center, Liberal; Phillips County Hospital, Phillipsburg; and the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita.
