Bush to name 2 KU graduates to federal posts

LAWRENCE -- Two University of Kansas graduates are in line for appointment to federal posts.

President Bush has named Edward F. Reilly Jr., who received a B.A. in political science from KU in 1961, to be chairman of the United States Parole Commission. Meanwhile U.S. bankruptcy Judge Julie A. Robinson, who graduated with a KU law degree in 1981, is expected to be named the next federal judge in Kansas.

Reilly, who served in the Kansas Legislature for 29 years, was appointed to the commission in 1992. He also served as chairman from August 1992 to February 1997.

Robinson, 44, has been a bankruptcy judge in Topeka since 1994 and was an assistant U.S. attorney in Kansas City, Kan. for ten years.
