LAWRENCE--James B. Carothers, professor of English, will serve as interim associate provost while Kathleen McCluskey-Fawcett serves as interim dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the University of Kansas announced today.
"I am very pleased that Jim has agreed to assume this post. He has been working closely with Kathleen on undergraduate issues, and is well acquainted with the areas for which he will have primary responsibility," said Provost David Shulenburger.
Carothers came to KU in 1970, and has held many administrative and governance positions, including associate dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, acting director of the honors program, and president of University Council. A William Faulkner scholar, Carothers teaches classes in the modern American novel and American humor. He is a founding co-editor of The Faulkner Journal.
