MEDIA ADVISORY: Kansas education leaders to discuss teacher shortages in state, nation

WHAT: Panel discussion on the state and national teacher shortage as part of the fall meeting of KU School of Education National Advisory Board.

WHEN: 10:15 a.m. to noon, Friday, Oct. 12.

WHERE: Malott Room of the Kansas Union.

WHO: The panel will be moderated by Fred Rodriguez, associate dean of the School of Education.

Panelists will be:

 • Cal Cormack, superintendent of Basehor-Linwood schools, USD 458

 • Andy Tompkins, Kansas Commission of Education

 • Hariette Horner, teacher, J.C. Harmon High School, Kansas City, Kan., USD 500

 • Shane J. Lopez, KU assistant professor of psychology and research in education

WHY: This panel discussion is part of the School of Education advisory board's annual fall meeting. The board is made up of School of Education friends, alumni and faculty, and its members support the school's friend-raising, fund-raising and advocacy efforts.
