KU to honor high school students at Osage City

LAWRENCE -- Students from seven Kansas high schools will be honored Tuesday, Nov. 6, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.

The students, seniors from Osage and Wabaunsee counties, will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. dinner program at the Osage City High School, 420 S. Fifth St., Osage City.

Honorees' names are listed below.

Bruce Twarog, professor of physics and astronomy, will speak. Alumni Association representative Kelly Kidwell, assistant director of chapters and constituent programs, is in charge of award presentations.

The program will cost parents and alumni $13.50 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.

Josi and John Garland, Osage City, are the coordinators for Osage and Wabaunsee counties.

The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 79,500 students in the top 10 percent of the Kansas high school senior classes.
