KU to honor high school students at Wichita

LAWRENCE -- Students from 14 Kansas high schools will be honored Tuesday, Oct. 30, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.

The students, seniors from Sedgwick County, will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 7 p.m. program and reception at the Century II Mary Jane Teall Theater, 225 W. Douglas, Wichita.

Honorees' names are listed below.

Toni-Marie Montgomery, dean of the School of Fine Arts, will speak. Alumni Association representative Jennifer Mueller, director of student programs, is in charge of award presentations.

Sedgwick County, Kansas, Alumni Association President Martin Bauer, Wichita, is the site coordinator. Jessica Johnson, Wichita, and Teresa Veazey Heying, Wichita, are the coordinators for Sedgwick County.

The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 79,500 students in the top 10 percent of the Kansas high school senior classes.
