Notice to KU campus and community: Helicopters to fly over on Friday, Sunday

LAWRENCE -- In an effort to capture the fall beauty of the University of Kansas, KU photographers will shoot aerial views of the campus Friday and Sunday afternoon.

At 3 p.m. Friday, Doug Koch, Office of University Relations photography coordinator, will photograph KU from a helicopter circling campus, focusing on Lawrence campus architecture and the colorful leaves of the more than 1,000 trees on campus. The helicopter will fly over campus for approximately 90 minutes.

At 4 p.m. Sunday, Frank Barthell, University Relations electronic media coordinator, will assist in shooting videotape of the Lawrence campus and downtown Lawrence.

The two flights will be conducted within Federal Aviation Administration regulations.

The video and still photographs will be used in KU promotional materials. Specific projects include printed and video materials for prospective students as well as images for the World Wide Web.
