KU to honor high school students in Hutchinson on Oct. 17

LAWRENCE Ü Students from 13 Kansas high schools will be honored Wednesday, Oct. 17, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.

The students, seniors from Harvey and Reno counties, will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. dinner program at the Ramada Inn, 1400 N. Lorraine, Hutchinson.

Honorees' names are listed below.

Reginald Robinson, counselor to the Chancellor, will speak. Alumni Association representative Kirk Cerny, senior vice president for membership services, is in charge of award presentations.

The program will cost parents and alumni $15 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.

Terry Edwards, Hutchinson, is the site and Reno County coordinator. Sue Ice, Newton, is the Harvey County coordinator.

The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 79,500 students in the top 10 percent of the Kansas high school senior classes.
