KU Panhellenic, Interfraternity Council plan fund-raising 5 drive for America

LAWRENCE -- The Panhellenic Association, Interfraternity Council and National Panhellenic Council at the University of Kansas have announced a "5 Drive to help do our part for America." The groups plan to purchase much needed steel-toed work boots for the rescue workers in New York City and Washington, D.C.

KU has 13 sororities in the Panhellenic Association, 22 fraternities in the Interfraternity Council plus 10 additional fraternities and sororities governed by the National Panhellenic Council. The National Panhellenic Council includes four each African-American fraternities and sororities and one each Latina/o groups. Approximately 3,570 KU students are members of a social fraternity or sorority.

The fraternities and sororities are asking their members to donate $5 or whatever they can afford at their chapter's next meeting. Each fraternity and sorority will then bring donations to either the PHA or IFC office or to the next delegates meeting or General Assembly by Sept. 25.
