KU Endowment announces steering committee for KU First campaign

LAWRENCE -- The KU First Campaign Steering Committee members are:

 •Forrest E. Hoglund, Dallas, Texas, committee chair, graduated from KU in 1956 with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. He is chairman of the board (retired) of Enron Oil & Gas Co. and a KU Endowment trustee.

 •Dana K. Anderson, Los Angeles, Calif., graduated from KU in 1959 with a bachelor's degree in business. He is vice chairman of the board of The Macerich Company, Santa Monica, California, and a KU Endowment trustee.

 •Marc A. Asher, M.D., Leawood, graduated from KU in 1962 with a medical degree. He is a professor of orthopedic surgery at KU Medical Center.

 •Frank J. Becker, Lawrence, is a 1958 KU graduate with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. He is the owner and president of Becker Investments Inc., Lawrence, and a KU Endowment vice chairman.

 •Howard E. Cohen, Leawood, graduated from KU in 1979 with a bachelor's degree in business administration and accounting. He is a partner with Deloitte & Touche, LLP, in Kansas City, Missouri.

 •Lewis D. Gregory, Leawood, graduated from KU in 1975 with a bachelor's degree in speech and drama. He is vice president and district trust manager with Merrill Lynch Trust Company, FSB, in Leawood.

 •Jordan L. Haines, Wichita, graduated from KU in 1949 with a bachelor's degree in history and in 1957 with a law degree. He is chairman (retired) of Fourth Financial Corp. in Wichita and a KU Endowment trustee. He was chairman of Campaign Kansas and will serve as an ex officio member of the Steering Committee.

 •Robert E. Hemenway, KU chancellor.

 •Sally S. Hoglund, Dallas, Texas, graduated from KU in 1956 with a bachelor's degree in political science. She is active in fund-raising activities for several Texas philanthropic organizations, including the Arthritis Foundation of North Texas and the Dallas area Alzheimer's Association.

 •Katherine H. Loo, Colorado Springs, Colo., graduated from KU in 1961 with a bachelor's degree in political science. She is a non-profit consultant in Colorado Springs and a KU Endowment trustee.

 •Lester B. "Dusty" Loo, Colorado Springs, Colo., graduated from KU in 1960 with a bachelor of fine arts degree. He is a partner with High Valley Group Inc. in Colorado Springs.

 •Dorothy W. Lynch, Olathe, is a 1959 KU graduate with a bachelor's degree in elementary education and a KU Endowment trustee.

 •A. Scott Ritchie, Wichita, is a 1954 KU graduate with a bachelor's degree in geology. He is chairman of Ritchie Exploration Inc. in Wichita and a KU Endowment trustee.

 •Frank C. Sabatini, Topeka, graduated from KU in 1955 with a bachelor's degree in business and in 1957 with a law degree. He is chairman and chief executive officer of Capital City Bank & Trust in Topeka.

 •Gale E. Sayers, Northbrook, Ill., graduated from KU in 1975 with a bachelor's degree in physical education and in 1977 with a master's degree in education. An NFL Hall of Famer, he is president and CEO of Sayers Computer Source in Mount Prospect, Illinois.

 •Dolph C. Simons, Jr., Lawrence, graduated from KU in 1951 with a bachelor's degree in journalism. He is president and publisher of The World Company, Lawrence, and chairman of KU Endowment's Board of Trustees.

 •Kurt D. Watson, Wichita, graduated from KU in 1975 with a bachelor's degree in education. He is chief operating officer of Insurance Management Associates Inc. in Wichita and a KU Endowment trustee.

 • David C. Wysong, Mission Hills, graduated from KU in 1972 with a bachelor's degree in journalism. He is with Wysong Capital Management in Kansas City, Missouri.

The Kansas University Endowment Association is an independent, non-profit organization serving as the official fund-raising and fund-management organization for the University of Kansas. Founded in 1891, KU Endowment is the first foundation of its kind at a U.S. public university and one of the largest.
