MEDIA ADVISORY: Welcome-home event for Jayhawks basketball team at 4 p.m. Tuesday

WHAT: Welcome-home celebration for the Jayhawks basketball team.

WHEN: 4 p.m. (Gates open at 2:30 p.m.)

WHERE: Memorial Stadium. (If the weather is bad, the event will be in Allen Fieldhouse.)

MEDIA ROOM: The home locker room will be open for media use.

MEDIA PARKING: Reserved at southwest corner of stadium. Please be prepared to show media IDs.

TV MEDIA: Contact Frank Barthell at (785) 864-8869 regarding any special arrangements.

AUDIO MULT-BOX: Available in front of seating at 50-yard line.

PROGRAM

4 p.m. Team arrives at Memorial Stadium. Will be dropped off at the low stage located on the track near 50-yard line. Stage will face west side of the stadium.

4:15 p.m. Presentation of colors by KU Reserve Officers' Training Corps (Notable: KU is one of 50 schools in the nation with three branches of military: Army, Navy and Air Force.)

4:16 p.m. National anthem by Dixie Road country band. (Notable: In 2001, Dixie Road began an exclusive promotional deal to sing at NASCAR and ISC Motorsports events. One band member, Dusty Workman of Topeka, is a 1996 KU graduate.)

4:18 p.m. Flyover by a B-1 bomber from the 184th Bomb Wing at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita. (Notable: All four members of the crew are KU graduates. For more information, contact Col. Kevin McNellis at 864-4676.)

4:19 p.m. Program onstage begins. Max Falkenstien is emcee. 4:25 p.m. Remarks by Chancellor Robert Hemenway. 4:30 p.m. Remarks by Athletics Director Al Bohl. 4:35 p.m. Remarks by Coach Roy Williams and several team members. 5 p.m. Videoboard program and alma mater.

End of program.

STAGING

 • 2-foot-tall stage will be on west side of field at 50-yard line. It will face west.

 • Bus will enter stadium, drive around track and then drop off team and coaches at 50-yard line. Please stay clear of track until bus passes. Bus will return at end of program to pick up team and coaches.

 • B-1 bomber will fly "low and slow" over stadium from north to south at precisely 4:18 p.m., then make a slow turn. (Notable: B-1 bombers account for 40 percent of all U.S. bombing runs in Afghanistan.)

 • The Jayhawk hot air balloon will be tethered to the ground in the north end zone.

 • The inflatable SuperJay will be in the south end zone.
