KU selects outstanding graduates to carry banners

LAWRENCE -- University of Kansas seniors and graduate students who have excelled academically will carry banners for KU's 13 schools and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences during May 19 commencement ceremonies.

As banner carriers, the students will lead their school groups in the traditional march down Mount Oread at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 19, for KU's 130th commencement ceremonies in Memorial Stadium.

Banner bearers in turn will join university officials on the platform as candidates from each school stand together for the ceremonial conferring of degrees.

The students' names, degrees, hometown addresses and the schools they represent are:

DOUGLAS COUNTY
From Lawrence
Emily Loretta Unruh, senior in music education, daughter of Delbert and Ione Unruh, 916 W. 20th Terrace; School of Fine Arts.

JOHNSON COUNTY
From Mission Hills
James Roshan Abraham, senior in classical languages and English, son of Omman and Mary Abraham, 8010 Widmer; College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
