First candidate for College of Liberal Arts and Sciences dean to visit campus

LAWRENCE -- The first of four candidates for a new dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences will visit campus next week and participate in an open forum.

Kip V. Hodges, professor of geology and former dean for undergraduate curriculum at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, was the first candidate announced Monday by the ProvostØs Office. Hodges will meet with faculty, staff and students during an open forum from 2:30 to 4 p.m. on Feb. 18 in Alderson Auditorium at the Kansas Union.

The search committee plans to interview four candidates before spring break, March 18 through 22. Open forums for the other candidates, whose names will be released later this month, have been scheduled for 3:30 to 5 p.m. March 4, 2:30 to 4 p.m., March 7, and 3:30 to 5 p.m. March 11. The forums will be in Alderson Auditorium.

Information about each candidate will be available on the Executive Vice Chancellor/ProvostØs Office's Web site about a week before the campus visit.
