KU's Information Services announces candidates for associate vice chancellor

LAWRENCE -- The University of Kansas has announced the names of four candidates for the new associate vice chancellor of information services position.

Starting Wednesday, Feb. 27, and through the following two weeks, the candidates will visit to interview with the search committee, meet with various campus constituencies and make public presentations.

The finalists are:

 • Donna Liss, director of information systems at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. She holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Nebraska.

Liss will give a public presentation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Feb. 27 in the Computer Center auditorium.

 • Harvard Townsend, director of computing and network services at Kansas State University. He holds a master's degree in computer science and a bachelor's degree in wildlife biology from Kansas State University. Townsend will be on campus March 7 and 8.

 • Larry Rapagnani, assistant provost for information technologies, University of Notre Dame. He holds a doctorate in applied sciences from the Universite Libre de Bruxelles, Brussels, Belgium; a master's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri, Columbia; and a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Kansas. Rapagnani will be on campus March 12 and 13.

 • Bahram Nassersharif, head of the department of mechanical engineering, New Mexico State University. He holds a doctorate in nuclear engineering and a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Oregon State University. Nassersharif will be on campus March 14 and 15.

The associate vice chancellor for information services provides leadership, management and supervision of information technology staff in administrative and academic computing (Computing Services, Academic Computing Services and LAN Support Services) and helps provide leadership, vision and technical guidance in the development of information technology services to meet the instructional, research and administrative needs of the university.
