Cyber terrorism a topic for regional moot court competition at KU law school

LAWRENCE -- Cyber terrorism and regulation of the Internet will be among the topics argued when the University of Kansas School of Law hosts the Phillip C. Jessup International Moot Court Midwest Regional Competition Feb. 8 to 10. Students from more than 10 law schools will attend the competition, which is free and open to the public.

The Jessup competition was established in 1959 and provides the opportunity to argue important and timely issues for students of international law in nations around the world.

The focus this year is the Internet. Topics to be argued include rules of international law protecting the freedom of expression in the context of access to the Internet; legal regulation at the national and international levels; computer hacking and cyberterrorism; and the legality of luring an alleged cyber terrorist from one state into another to prosecute him.

More information about the competition is available online.

Chase College of Law, Northern Kentucky University; University of Cincinnati College of Law; University of Dayton School of Law; University of Illinois College of Law; University of Iowa College of Law; University of Nebraska College of Law; and Vanderbilt University Law School.
