KANU to present Right Between the Ears Feb. 16 at Liberty Hall

LAWRENCE -- Right Between the Ears, the nationally broadcast comedy show produced at KANU-FM and formerly known as the Imagination Workshop, will present its first show of 2002 at 5 and 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at Liberty Hall. The 8 p.m. show will be broadcast live on KANU-FM 91.5 and on the KANU Web site.

Although still in preparation at press time, this edition of Right Between the Ears will include the usual mix of topical take-offs and satirical send-ups. Osama bin Laden gets hauled in front of TV's Judge Judy; the Fishing Guys visit the Winter Olympics (after all, the Olympics are in Salt Lake City); screen hunk Antonio Banderas ponders the war in Afghanistan; and the Army tries to sort out its new dress code (bald is beautiful, but orange hair is not). Also planned are episodes of Buzz Gentry, Boy Cop and Brain Twister, plus commercial spoofs and silly songs.

KANU's Right Between the Ears recently picked up two awards in the 2001 Communicator Awards competition, for best writing/humor and for best live broadcast/radio. The series previously won gold medals at the prestigious New York Festivals and the CPB Program Awards. Right Between the Ears producer and principal writer is KANU Program Director Darrell Brogdon.

Tickets for Right Between the Ears cost $12 for cabaret seats and $8 for balcony seats. Tickets are on sale at Liberty Hall and TicketMaster outlets. Credit card orders may be placed at (816) 931-3330.

KANU is the public radio station at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, at 91.5 FM in Northeast Kansas, at 89.7 in Atchison and on the Web. Right Between the Ears' Web site is www.rightbetweentheears.org.
