KU Concert and University bands to perform Feb. 20 at Lied Center

LAWRENCE -- Two University of Kansas student ensembles take the stage during the University and Concert bands concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at the Lied Center of Kansas.

The University Band opens the concert, under the direction of Timothy Oliver, assistant professor of music and dance, director of athletic bands and assistant director of bands.

The Concert Band performs after intermission, under the direction of Tom Stidham, associate professor of music and dance and associate director of bands. The program includes the George Gershwin favorite "Porgy and Bess," arranged by James Barnes, professor of music and dance.

Admission to the concert at The Lied Center is $7 general, $5 for students and seniors. Tickets are available at the Lied Center, (785) 864-ARTS; Murphy Hall, (785) 864-3982; and SUA, (785) 864-3477.
