MEDIA ADVISORY: Local businesses team up with area school for Hart Rouge residency activities

WHAT: The Lied Center of Kansas has a long tradition of partnering with local businesses and schools to provide strong educational programs featuring performing artists for area children. Hart Rouge will visit Lawrence's East Heights Elementary School. This French-Canadian folk band, which features siblings Paul, Michelle and Suzanne Campagne, will perform at two assemblies. The group will perform "From Quebec City to Baton Rouge." Fueled by jaw-dropping harmonies and virtuoso musicianship, this performance invites students to travel with the musicians on a journey following the history of French-Canadian people.

WHEN: 1:15-1:45 p.m. and 1:50-2:20 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24.

WHERE: East Heights Elementary School, 1430 Haskell Ave.

WHO: Hart Rouge, a French-Canadian folk band.

A team of teachers and the principal from East Heights Elementary School have been working with the Lied Center staff to align these residency activities with the school's goals. These activities are made possible through a grant from the Lawrence Breakfast Optimists.

Seventy-five students, parents and teachers will attend the 7:30 p.m. performance of Hart Rouge on Friday, Jan. 25, at the Lied Center. East Heights' business/education partner, Independence Inc., Lawrence's independent living resource center, will provide transportation. Families will gather at East Heights at 6:15 p.m. and take buses to the show.
