KU to honor Edwards, Pawnee, Stafford county high school students at Larned

LAWRENCE -- Students from seven Kansas high schools will be honored Thursday, Feb. 7, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.

The students, seniors from Edwards, Pawnee and Stafford counties, will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. dinner program at the Harvest Inn Restaurant, 718 Ft. Larned, Larned.

Honorees' names are listed below.

Marilu Goodyear, vice chancellor for information services and chief information officer, will speak. Alumni Association representative Kirk Cerny, senior vice president for membership services, is in charge of award presentations.

The program will cost parents and alumni $11 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.

John Adams, Larned, is the site coordinator. County coordinators are Al Frame, Kinsley, for Edwards County; Mike Best, Larned, for Pawnee County; and Barry Bennington, St. John, for Stafford County.

The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 79,500 students in the top 10 percent of the Kansas high school senior classes.
