KU to honor Finney, Hamilton, Kearny county high school students

LAWRENCE -- Students from five Kansas high schools will be honored Wednesday, Feb. 13, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.

The students, seniors from Finney, Hamilton and Kearny counties, will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. dinner program at the Southwind Country Club, South Star Route, Garden City.

Honorees' names are listed below.

Paul Atchley, assistant professor of psychology, will speak. Alumni Association representative Chris Lazzarino, managing editor of Kansas Alumni magazine, is in charge of award presentations.

The program will cost parents and alumni $12.50 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.

Geneen Love, Garden City, is the site coordinator. Rebecca Crotty and Kim Shaddix, both of Garden City, are the coordinators for Finney and Kearny counties. Rob Gale Jr., Syracuse, is the Hamilton County coordinator.

The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 79,500 students in the top 10 percent of the Kansas high school senior classes.
