STOMP returns to Lied Center for three-day, four-performance run

LAWRENCE -- The Lied Center of Kansas Broadway & Beyond Series, The BleuJacket, The Kansas City Star and Kief's Audio/Video present STOMP. The percussion group performs at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8; 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9; and 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10.

From its beginnings as a street performance in the United Kingdom, this extraordinary group has grown into a global phenomenon, with five international touring companies. STOMP has performed at the Lied Center twice before, in February 1997 and October 1998.

After playing for more than six seasons, STOMP continues its run with one North American touring company, while the New York company sustains its sell-out run at the Orpheum Theatre.

This ensemble uses everything -- trash cans, tea chests, plastic bags, plungers, boots, hubcaps -- to fill the stage with compelling, infectious rhythms.

Tickets for reserved seats for STOMP are still available at the Lied Center, (785) 864-2787 (voice) or (785) 864-2777 (TTY); Murphy Hall, (785) 864-3982; SUA, (785) 864-SHOW; TicketMaster, (785) 234-4545 or (816) 931-3330; and Tickets.com. Ticket prices are: public $40 and $34; KU and Haskell students and children up to 18 years of age $40 and $11, $20 and $17 (matinees only); senior citizens (62 and older) $40 and $34.

Lied Center facilities, parking and front-of-house staff are fully prepared to accommodate patrons with special needs. The Lied Center has barrier-free entrances, and wheelchair locations are available on all levels of the performance hall. Free headsets are available for people requiring hearing-assistance or audio-description devices. Please show photo identification when reserving the headset. Braille and larger-print programs are also available. Please contact our ticket office at least two weeks before the event to make arrangements for these special programs. Audio description services and recorded program notes are provided through a partnership between the Lied Center and Audio-Reader Network.
