West end of Memorial Drive at KU to close for construction

LAWRENCE -- Memorial Drive at the University of Kansas will close July 2 for repairs that are expected to be completed by fall.

Greg Wade, landscape architect with Design and Construction Management, said the street would be closed from West Campus Road to the west end of Snow Hall. Memorial Drive is located just north of Strong Hall and south of Memorial Stadium.

Crews will replace the road and its base to repair damage caused by age and erosion.

Parking along Memorial Drive will continue to be accessible from the east end at Mississippi Street, although not in construction areas.

Wade said barricades and signage would redirect traffic beginning July 2.
