'Right Between the Ears' receives silver medal at the New York Festivals

NEW YORK -- "Right Between the Ears," the nationally broadcast comedy series produced at Kansas Public Radio at the University of Kansas, has received a Silver World Medal for Best Writing at the 2002 New York Festivals. The award was announced during ceremonies in New York City on June 20.

"Right Between the Ears" (formerly "The Imagination Workshop") has won numerous awards at the New York Festivals, including two Gold Medals for Best Comedy Show in 1992 and 1993, plus the Festival Grand Award for Entertainment Programming in 1993. One of the most prestigious international competitions in broadcasting, the New York Festivals honor excellence in worldwide communications media and this year received entries from more than 60 countries.

"Right Between the Ears" closed out the 2001-02 season with a performance at Kansas City's American Heartland Theatre on June 29. During July and August, highlights from the series are being featured on an in-flight entertainment channel on Delta Air Lines flights. The live broadcast series will resume with an Oct. 5 performance at Liberty Hall in Lawrence.
