'Right Between the Ears' earns national recognition

NEW YORK -- "Right Between the Ears," the nationally broadcast comedy series produced by Kansas Public Radio at the University of Kansas, has been named a national winner in the 2002 Silver Microphone Awards, in the Audio Programs/Entertainment category. The competition selects the best local and regional radio commercials, audio programs and Web sites created by advertising agencies, production companies and radio stations in the United States.

"Right Between the Ears" is produced by Kansas Public Radio's Darrell Brogdon. Production supervisor for the series is Jason Slote, and writers include Brogdon, David Greusel, Kip Niven and Rick Tamblyn. Earlier this summer the series received a Silver World Medal at the 2002 New York Festivals in the Best Writing category.

Kansas Public Radio at KU comprises KANU at 91.5-FM in Lawrence; KANH in Emporia at 89.7-FM; and a translator at 89.7-FM in Atchison. KPR programming also is available online at kanu.ku.edu. The "Right Between the Ears" Web site is www.rightbetweentheears.org.
