LAWRENCE -- The Kansas Geological Foundation, a not-for-profit educational and scientific corporation in Wichita, has awarded eight of its 15 scholarships to University of Kansas students for the 2002-03 school year.
Kansas Geological Foundation President John Hastings announced that the organization had awarded a total of 15 scholarships to students at five Kansas universities that grant degrees in geology and earth sciences.
Six graduate students and two undergraduates majoring in geology at KU will receive scholarships that provide $500 to $1,000 for the fall semester.
The Kansas Geological Foundation was founded in 1989 as a not-for-profit corporation to provide individuals and corporations opportunities to further the science of geology. It is dedicated to providing charitable, scientific, literary and educational opportunities in the field of geology for the professional geologist as well as the general public.
