Sci-fi book signing to take place at Mount Oread Bookshop July 6 at KU

LAWRENCE -- The Mount Oread Bookshop at the University of Kansas will be host of a book signing featuring several authors of science fiction and fantasy from 12:45 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 6.

The book signing takes place in conjunction with the annual Campbell Conference on science fiction writing, July 5 to 7 at KU. The conference is part of the university's J. Wayne and Elsie M. Gunn Center for the Study of Science Fiction summer programs, which began with a writers workshop June 17 to July 4 and will conclude with an intensive science fiction course July 8 to 19.

The John W. Campbell Memorial Award for the best science-fiction novel of the year and the Theodore Sturgeon Memorial Award for the best short science fiction of 2001 will be presented at an awards banquet the evening before the signing. This year's inductions into the Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame also will take place during the banquet.

The authors attending the book signing will include Robin Wayne Bailey, James Gunn, Kij Johnson, Frederik Pohl and the recipients of the Sturgeon and Campbell awards.

Books by this year's Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame inductees also will be available, although none of the inductees will attend:

Michael Moorcock

Deceased inductees:
James Blish
Donald Wollheim
