Noted scholar of African and British literatures to speak at KU March 28

LAWRENCE -- Laura Chrisman, noted scholar of African and British literatures, will deliver a public lecture at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 28, in the Malott Room of the Kansas Union at the University of Kansas. She will discuss "Postcolonial Studies and Black Atlanticism," and a reception will follow.

Laura Chrisman is an associate professor at the Ohio State University and holds a Humanities Center research fellowship at Stanford University. Her areas of specialization are African and African Diaspora studies, colonial and postcolonial studies, postcolonial theory, and 19th- and 20th-century British literature. She has published several books and myriad articles, book chapters and introductions on imperialism, the Black Atlantic, teaching postcolonial studies, and the intersections of colonialism and feminism. The Department of English and the African Studies Resource Center sponsor Chrisman's visit.
